Cracking Down On Stretch Goals: Moving Forward With Phase 2 of PTG2E
almost 5 years ago – Sat, May 25, 2019 at 01:39:35 AM

Hello, part-time worshippers! (That's a new term we're trying out for PTG2E fans, what d'ya think?) I'm Todd Crapper, the Marketing and Design Manager for Third Eye Games. Eloy's asked me to take a moment to post an update on the next exciting chapter of the Second Edition's development as he's actually working on getting parts of this announcement out the door.

In the spirit of the MCU, I'm calling this Phase Two of Part-Time Gods Second Edition: the stretch goals! Thanks to your support last year, we raised a lot of money to help create not only an incredibly core rulebook but start a line of Second Edition products that will fuel the line for years to come. While I don't have specifics to give you at the moment, we have a production meeting scheduled to review the current state of stretch goal development.

While most of our stretch goals may seem like Second Edition conversions of the original edition's product line, we're looking to do more than that. New mechanics such as Free Time, Wealth, and the use of the Chakra System mean we want to do more than simply port it over with a couple of tweaks here and there. It's also about exploring new ways to look at the world of part-time gods with the new voices we've added to 3EG. This means all stretch goals are undergoing rewrites that vary from one to the next under Eloy's vision and leadership. This game is his baby and it's our baby too - we only want to release these new products if they meet the standards we have set for ourselves in the core rulebook.

We've also learned things about large-scale Kickstarter fulfillment and product line development in the wake of recent TTRPG publishers suddenly facing financial difficulties as a result of explosively successful crowdfunding campaigns. In order to ensure 3EG doesn't end up burying ourselves, we've worked hard with our Production Manager, Phil, to ensure timely and efficient production on each stretch goal. These are not just stretch goals we're releasing - they're final products intended for release to the gaming community that you wonderful backers will receive first access in appreciation for your patronage and support of this game. That means we have to be 100% on our A-game for this stretch goals.

So what's going on right now? Early drafts for the Part-Time Gods Second Edition Companion are currently in Eloy's hands undergoing redlines (a kind of developmental editing pass to ensure the mechanics and canon of the game remains intact). It's actually why he asked me to handle this update for him. The current projection is for redlines to wrap up by the end of May and return to writers for revisions as necessary. After that, it will be off to our editors.

My goal is to provide all of you with monthly updates as to the progress of these stretch goals. In the meantime, we're also hard at work getting PTG2E's core rulebook into gaming stores across North America. Part of that involves our "New Gods of Detroit" actual play series on YouTube that started this past week. You can check out our setting/character creation session right now at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDVPQFrmlPs

If you have any questions, please post away. As always, thank you for your patience and enthusiasm for this game. The response so far has been tremendously positive.

Sincerely,

Todd Crapper

about 5 years ago – Tue, Feb 26, 2019 at 10:07:21 PM

Hey all!

Just wanted to give you the latest update on Part-Time Gods Second Edition. The Corebook has finally completed printing and should be on its way to fulfillment by next week. Once ready, we'll be sending you the instructions for paying for shipping and getting this book finally in your hands!

I can't wait to have this out to all of you, as Part-Time Gods Second Edition came out amazingly. WAY better than I could have dreamed.

We apologize for the delay of getting this book done, but we're very happy to be this close to the end... for the Corebook that is. The Part-Time Gods Companion first drafts are in as well, so just you wait. We're going to have more material very soon.

Until next time.

Hey All!

The final printing proofs for Part-Time Gods Second Edition have been approved... finally! That means, we have a bit to wait for the process, but once done we can start getting the book into your hands.

I hope everyone is having a great 2019 so far (we certainly are) and that you are enjoying the PDF of Part-Time Gods Second Edition.

Until next time.

Cheers!

Long Overdue but Exciting Update
over 5 years ago – Sun, Dec 09, 2018 at 07:56:15 PM

Hey all!

Just wanted to jump in here and let you know that we have the Part-Time Gods Second Edition Corebook almost locked down. We've done the last of the writing, all the backer characters are done, the last bits of layout are being completed right now. That means that this week the finalized PDF will updated on DriveThruRPG and that we'll be putting the print order, which means print copies will likely be ready in January. Once I have more of a date on that, I'll share that.

Very excited about all the activity that's been going on around Part-Time Gods Second Edition. Even without the final book out, people have been making characters, assembling groups to play in person and online, and lottos talk in the G+ Community. There'll be even more once the final product is out, and...

  • Upcoming Oracles: We're starting a new Oracles program that will offer support to GMs who want to run Third Eye Games sessions in their local store, at a convention, etc. This will be a way for use to supply our special GMs with exclusive adventures and whatnot. More info on this soon, but we are buzzing over here.

Any questions/comments, let me know.

Until next time.
